AFCON 2023: CAF names Senegalese Referee for Nigeria vs Angola clash

Issa Sy from Senegal will be the referee at the center when Nigeria plays Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final on Friday.

Sy will work alongside his compatriots Djibril Camara and Nouha Bangoura.

Camara and Bangoura are assistant referee 1 and assistant referee 2 respectively, alongside Mauritanian official Abdel Aziz Bouh as fourth official.

The match will be played at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.

The encounter is one of the rare occasions where Nigeria and Angola go head-to-head.

The most notable was when the Palancas Negras held the Super Eagles to a 1-1 in Kano, to edge the head-to-head contest and qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
