Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has formally presented Mustapha Gubio, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
The development was disclosed by the governorโs spokesperson and media adviser, Dauda Iliya, through a post on X.
During the meeting, Governor Zulum praised President Tinubuโs commitment to peace, stability, and reconstruction efforts in the Northeast, saying the administration has strengthened unity within the APC and improved governance across the region.
Gubio, who emerged unopposed during the APC governorship primary election in Maiduguri, was accompanied to the presidential meeting by Bukar Talba, a member of the House of Representatives.
The APC primary election, held on Thursday in Maiduguri, officially produced Gubio as the partyโs flagbearer for the 2027 Borno State governorship election.
The exercise was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Zulum, party leaders, delegates, and other stakeholders from across the state.
Party stakeholders described Gubioโs emergence as a consensus decision aimed at promoting unity and strengthening the APCโs chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
