The So-Safe Corps in Ogun, over the weekend, said it has arrested ten men for allegedly being involved in forceful extortion, cultism, and robbery.
A statement from the office of the State Commander of the Corps, (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, through Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, revealed this to newsmen on Saturday night.
The statement partly reads, “The patrol team of the corps arrested some of these criminal elements while forcing their victims to extort money from them at Sango garage, via Sango Underbridge, inward Ijoko road, by Borehole and Joju Bus stop.
“It was so disheartening to see the suspects charging toward their victims who were passersby to extort money from them.
“Two of the suspects, Alabi Segun and Wahab Shobayo were caught robbing an innocent boy who was pleading with them to be allowed to go, but they refused to free him and he was robbed of his belongings. But the So-safe intervention saved his life.
“Another suspect, Tope Akinola, was caught with a pocket knife.”
He gave the number of suspects arrested for forceful extortion, cultism, and robbery as ten. They are:
Sunday Olude (22), Sampson Adeoti (25), Sunday Oluwaseyi (24), Muhammed Danladi; ( 22), and Wasiu Folarin (21).
Others are Tope Akinola (20), Ade Adejare (23), Alabi Segun, Wahab Shobayo, and Bidemi Oyatope who is said to be a cultist at the ‘Eye Conferternity’.
Disclosing items found on the suspects, Ganzallo listed traditional charm, pocket knife, and different kinds of Illicit drugs, e.g. Kolos, hemp, ice, and others
However, the Commander said the suspects had been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Police Headquarters, for further investigation and likely prosecution.
