President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate creation of military barracks in Plateau State.
This comes after many attacks resulting in the loss of nearly 200 lives across three local government areas in Plateau state, namely Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi.
The military barracks will be built in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu), Mbar District, Bokkos local government region.
President Tinubu asked the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to oversee the implementation of this effort to address the region’s security concerns.
Recall that previous Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye attempted to support the creation of the barracks to put an end to the ongoing attacks that have resulted in casualties, widespread looting, and property devastation.
Once operational, the barracks will quickly respond to the ongoing attacks and deaths in Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and bordering Nasarawa state.
The endeavor is especially important in light of the simultaneous sacking of some settlements, widespread theft, and fatalities on Christmas Eve 2023 in the Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi local government regions.
