Canadian rap artist Tory Lanez has received a 10-year prison sentence after being found guilty of shooting US musician Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a confrontation. The incident occurred following a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills residence on July 12, 2020. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, shot Megan Thee Stallion, causing her injury.
The trial began on Monday and concluded on Tuesday, resulting in the 31-year-old Canadian rapper being sentenced to a decade in prison. Lanez had initially pleaded not guilty to three felony charges: assault with a semi-automatic weapon, possession and transport of an unlicensed firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Before the judge delivered the verdict, Lanez addressed the court while dressed in an orange jumpsuit. He expressed remorse for his actions and took full responsibility for the incident that occurred in 2020. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford, in delivering the sentence, remarked that it was challenging to reconcile the image of Lanez as a caring father and a generous individual portrayed by his friends and family during the trial with the person who had shot Megan five times.
โSometimes good people do bad things,โย Herriford added.ย โActions have consequences, and there are no winners in this case.โ

During the trial, Megan recounted that Lanez had instructed her to dance as she was walking away from the SUV they were in, following their departure from a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house. He then fired the gun at the back of her feet, resulting in her needing surgery to remove the bullet fragments. It was only several months later that she revealed Lanez as the shooter.
