Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere Ascends Ilua Throne
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere as the new Onilua of Ilua, officially concluding the succession process for the revered Ilua royal stool in Kajola Local Government Area.
The governorโs approval was conveyed through an official letter issued by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Secretariat, Ibadan. The letter, dated December 31, 2025, with reference number CB.141/26A Vol. III/99, was signed by the Director of Chieftaincy Matters, A.M. Olajire, confirming the authenticity of the appointment.
According to the ministry, Governor Makinde had โgraciously approvedโ Prince Olalereโs appointment, with effect from October 20, 2023. The appointment will also be published in the Oyo State Government Official Gazette in line with statutory provisions guiding traditional institutions across the state.
Indigenes of Ilua and stakeholders in Kajola Local Government have warmly welcomed the development, describing the new monarchโs ascension as a move that will strengthen traditional leadership and foster communal unity.
The state government expressed optimism that the reign of the new Onilua will usher in peace, stability, and increased socio-economic development for Ilua and its surrounding communities.
โMay your tenure as the Onilua of Ilua be characterised by peace, progress, and socio-economic growth in Kajola Local Government Area,โ the letter added, wishing the monarch a successful and enduring reign.
