This is a wonderful interactive moment with the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Venite University, Iloro Ekiti, Professor (Rev. Fr.) James Adeola Olaogun.
Venite University is one of the newly 37 approved private Universities by the Federal Government.
My interaction with the VC dwelled on the academic vision of the university to its global community, its approved courses, and its expected students.
From my brief and very incisive discussion with the VC, and based on the available infrastructure at the institution’s permanent site at Iloro Ekiti, one could conclude that Venite University has indeed come with a very strong vision to be one of the best universities in producing fully baked graduates that can own their space and stand in the highly competitive global places.
For me, the promoters of the new university got it very right from the concept down to its current status. The choice of the university’s pioneer VC, Professor (Rev. Fr.) James Olaogun, a Professor of Sociology, is also understandable. He has a very distinguished career in academics and he’s known for his penchant for academic excellence and scholarship around the world.
Observers from the academic environment also see Olaogun’s appointment as the best that can give the university the necessary flip to achieve its set academic excellence.
It is expected that academic work will resume fully by October 2023.
