Liverpool are in talks with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over a sensational loan move for Kylian Mbappe.
This is coming amid report of the French champions being angry with the player for refusing to talk to Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal after they accepted a world record shattering ยฃ259 million bid. But they also fear that Mbappe will walk out for nothing in 12 months to Real Madrid.
English media platforms are reporting that Liverpool are ready to offer Mbappe a one-year loan deal, which gets him out of Paris, brings in cash for PSG, and also help him complete his dream move to Madrid. The Reds have been encouraged by Mbappeโs respect for the club and the fact that his mother, Fayza Lamari, also his agent is an avid Kop fan.
Recent reports in Spain claim PSG have informed Real they would have to pay around โฌ250m (ยฃ214m) to sign Mbappe this summer, with Los Blancos trying to negotiate a lower fee.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had also confirmed plans to sell Mbappe this summer following his refusal to sign a new deal with the club.
Al-Khelaifi had said;
โMy position is very clear. I donโt want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract.
โWe donโt want to lose the best player in the world for free, we canโt do that. This is a French club. He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, itโs not my fault. We donโt want to lose the best player in the world for free, thatโs very clear.โ
Mbappe was close to heading to Anfield before joining PSG from Monaco back in 2017 and LโEquipe claimed previously that he held a two-hour meeting with Reds owner John W Henry on his private jet.
They reported that Henry attempted to win over Mbappe and his family in early 2017 by flying his private jet to Monaco and inviting them on board. They are said to have flown over the bay of Nice and its surroundings for two hours as they discussed his future before the Reds eventually missed out.
The support of Nike, Mbappe, and Liverpoolโs major sponsors, could give them an increased chance of landing the striker if he decides to move on.
