In a significant development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the indefinite suspension of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to facilitate a thorough investigation into his conduct while in office. This decision comes in light of serious allegations of abuse of power leveled against him. The official statement announcing the suspension was released by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
As a result of the weighty allegations, Mr. Bawa has been instructed to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his position to the Director of Operations within the Commission. The Director of Operations will assume the role of overseeing the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission until the investigation reaches its conclusion.
