President Bola Tinubu arrived in New York, United States of America on Monday for the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Tinubu was received at the John F. Kennedy Airport by the Nigeria Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande and other government officials.
The theme of this yearโs UNGA is: โRebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for Allโ.
However, IdanNews gathered that President Tinubu will deliver his inaugural National Statement On September 19 which is the first day of the High-Level General Debate of the assembly.
Before the General Debate, he will join other world leaders to take part in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (UN 2023 Summit on SDGs).
Also, he is billed to participate in the High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development; High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.
Other High-Level Dialogue he will feature in are the UN Secretary Generalโs Climate Ambition Summit; the High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage; High-Level Panel on Reform of the Global Financial Architecture.
The UN General Assembly is the main policy-making organ of the Organization.
Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations.
Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.
