Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume has urged all governors who emerge under the platform of All Progressives Congress APC to desist from decamping to the opposition party after winning election.
Akume who was represented by elder Simon Shango to reconstitute caretaker Chairmen for the 23 LGAS Councils in Benue state at the APC stakeholders forum organized at the instance of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia held on Saturday said the instances of former Governor Samuel Ortom in 2015 who won with the APC ticket and eventually defected to the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP can no longer be tolerated.
The party chieftain further debunked insinuation in some quarters whereby onlookers are accusing bickering between SGF Sen.George Akume and Governor Hyacinth Alia, arguing it is a figment of their imagination that nothing of such ever existed.
Elder statesman Chief Shango enjoined the party stalwarts to remain steadfast and be focused on selecting credible men and women as well as young men to make up leadership in their various LGAS without contention in the State.
He further stated the ruling party is working assiduously towards ensuring peace is maintained and nobody left it,s fold elsewhere.
Also speaking at the occasion 2nd Republic Senator, Jacob Gyado, emphasized the need for unity and provision of stomach infrastructure to the populace saying there is hunger and starvation in the land.
“Senator Gyado stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done a lot for Tiv Nation by appointing their Sons in sensitive positions, in his administration look at SGF Senator George Akume as well as Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev pointing out it’s high time for Governor Hyacinth Alia to collaborate efforts and bring infrastructural development at the home front.
While Contributing at the forum former senate president, Senator Ameh Ebutte told Governor Alia to carry his Deputy Governor Dr Sam Ode along as well as the populace reiterating that suffering by the masses was overwhelming.
In his comment, Hon.Akange Audu emphasized the improvement of welfare urging Governor Alia to always be accessible to the citizens at all times.
He implored that the choice of those of the composition of Council leaders must be done without prejudice urging let it be selected accordingly for peace to reign in our respective areas in the state.
In his speech at the occasion, Governor Hyacinth Alia pledged to abide by the resolutions of stakeholders.
