Oyo Organises Leadership Retreat for Political Office Holders

Oyo lawmakers grant Makinde's N50bn Revolving loan request By: Akeem Adeyemi, Ibadan The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday granted the request of Governor Seyi Makinde to access a loan of 50 billion naira revolving overdraft for the development of recurrent and capital expenditures in the State. Governor Makinde had earlier sent a request letter to the Oyo State House of Assembly, governor's letter was read at the plenary by the Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin. The lawmakers however acknowledged the various projects being embarked upon by the State Government across the State and concluded such a facility was inevitable to enable the State Government to meet up with its financial obligations, especially in terms of its recurrent and capital expenditures. Makinde's letter read, “The request is part of the efforts of the present administration towards financing its recurrent expenditure which includes salary and conventions, capital expenditure and support/finance various contractual obligations.“ Meanwhile, The facility is for 45 months at a concessionary rate of 25.1% per annum. This is subject to review in line with the prevailing money market conditions.

The Oyo state government on Tuesday, kicks off a three-day leadership retreat organised for Political Office Holders in Ibadan.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade said in a press statement, that this would be the third of the yearly leadership retreat since the first tenure of the Seyi Makinde-led Administration.

According to Oyelade, the first retreat was held in 2019.

Prince Oyelade said that the theme of the Omituntun 2.0 leadership retreat is ‘Adaptive Leadership Strategies in an Uncertain Time’.

He added that the retreat will commence today and end on Thursday evening at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan.

The leadership retreat will be declared open by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, tomorrow morning.

He said that some of the topics to be treated include adaptive leadership strategies; Procedures, Ethics and ethos within Government establishment; Building a sustainable structure for implementation, internal monitoring and evaluation.

Other topics are: Securing an enduring legacy in and out of office; and Information management within the system.

Some of the speakers include, the MD/CEO, First Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Sola Adeduntan; the SSG to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo; the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni; the Commissioners for Finance; Budget and Planning; Justice and Information and Orientation among others.
