Osun Assembly confirms nominees for Statutory Commissions

Osun Assembly confirms  nominees for Statutory Commissions

The Osun State 8th Assembly on Monday confirmed the nominees for the vacancies Statutory Commissions and cleared the nominees to proceed to the swearing-in process.

However, these Statutory Commissions include the Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, Osun State Judicial Service Commission and Osun State Civil Service Commission.

The speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Adewale Egbedun, in his remark, noted that the emergency plenary session became imperative to avoid unnecessary vacuum
in the state statutory Commissions.

He recalled that the House recommended the dissolution of the Commissions about two weeks ago based on the report of the House that the committee on public petitions investigated a series of petitions submitted against members of the Commissions, the majority of which bordered on gross misconduct, among other allegations.

“To enhance seamless operations in these commissions therefore, it is very important and urgent for the House to screen and possibly confirm the nominees forwarded by the Executive governor to fill the vacancies created by the dissolution”.

Barrister Hasim Abioye emerged as OSSIEC chairman, Adedapo Ayodeji, Secretary, others are: Barr Niyi Abioye, Hon Timothy Folarin, Chief Rafiu Sikiru, Barr Wale Iyaniwura, Olubunmi Ibitoye and Mobolaji Niniola.

Osun State Judicial Service Commission members are Barr Ishola Tewogbade, Barr Adedunmade Onibokun, Mr Gbadegesin Olajide and Mrs Linda Bibilari.

The list of Osun State Civil Service Commission has Mufutau Oluwadare as chairman, Agbofiseti Akano, Adekunle Olaniyan, Olokede Akindele and Alhaji Fakorede Raifu as members.

Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission includes the chairman, Honourable Adekunle Oyekunle. Others are Hon Okun Obiremi, Hon Adebusola Taiwo, Hon Sulaiman Adio and Hon Yinka Adetoyi.

The speaker then ordered the nominees to proceed to the Exco chamber of the state Secretariat for a swearing-in ceremony.
