Oyo State All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday, announced a slight adjustment in the schedule of its primary election for all chairmanship and councilor-ship aspirants ahead of the forthcoming local government election in the State.
IdannNews learnt that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) fixed April 2024 for the local government election across the state.
APC in the statement said that the primary became necessary as a result of multiple expressions of interest.
Publicity Secretary of the party, Olawale Sadare told newsmen that the primary earlier scheduled for this Thursday will now be held on Friday (August 25) and Monday (August 28).
“The schedule of the party primary will now be split into two and we have picked this Friday to conduct the exercise in all the Wards and LGAs in both Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial districts, while the turn of the 99 Wards and nine local government councils in Oyo South will be Monday next week.
“Reports submitted by the screening committees established that we have competent aspirants in all the 351 Wards and 33 LGAs; this indicates that APC remains the most popular party in the State,” he said.
