In a significant stride toward enhancing food security and aligning with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s vision of making Ekiti State an agricultural hub, Ikere Local Government, which has embarked on its agricultural journey, has commenced the harvest of its maize crops.

This marks the first successful yield under the leadership of Hon. (Sqn Ldr Rtd) Olu Egbejoda Adamolekun, the Executive Chairman of Ikere Local Government.

Chairman Adamolekun, who assumed office eight months ago, launched a mixed cropping initiative focusing on maize and cassava. This is a testament to his commitment to revitalizing agriculture in the Local Government, as promised during his campaign, and takes pride in replicating the vision of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The Chairman expressed his satisfaction with the progress made: “I’m happy we recorded a bumper harvest with the test run.” He then reiterated his promise to further invest in agricultural ventures in the upcoming planting season. “Our goal is to ensure food security and empower our local farmers,” he stated. “This maize harvest is just the beginning of our journey towards sustainable agriculture.”

The administration’s focus on agriculture aims to align with the shared prosperity vision of Governor Biodun Oyebanji by boosting local food production and contributing to the economic development of Ikere Local Government. “I believe by next year we will have more than enough to sell even to other local governments,” said Chairman Adamolekun.
