Oyo state Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde on Tuesday commissioned Dynasty 89.9 FM, the first private radio station in Oyo town. Pledged to bring Atiba FM back to life in reaction to the comment of Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu who earlier said “An Oyo indigene has beaten the government to setting up a radio station.”

In his words, “When Baba, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu was speaking, he said an Oyo indigene has beaten the Oyo state government to setting up a radio station. Well, in the same Oyo town, some people beat the government and established Atiba University but when the government was ready, we established the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education.

“As Dynasty FM began operation now, we will follow the lead. Baba has challenged me, we will ensure that we bring Atiba FM back to life and I will take a personal interest in the project and ensure it is done in record time.

Makinde also commended the founder of the Dynasty 89.9 FM, Engr. Biodun Ajisafe noted that his government is ready to collaborate with the new radio station to propagate Oyo State’s culture and inform the people. “you can see BCOS chairman here. What it means is that our government is ready to collaborate with Dynasty FM to propagate our culture. We can compete but there is always room for collaboration.”

He congratulated the Ajisafes family, citing that their late father, Alhaji Moshood Ajisafe left a worthy legacy of training his children.

The Governor also enumerated that his administration has created a modern Oyo State to attract sped-up development, and noted that his government is ready to collaborate with private individuals and businesses to develop Oyo State.

He said “We are making progress in Oyo State. The Commissioner of Information just informed me that when we got into government in 2019, there were only 20 radio stations but four and a half years later, I learnt that, plus Dynasty 89.9 FM, Oyo State now has 51 radio stations. This tells you about how far we have come as a state.”

Makinde also noted that with the upgrade of the moribund Fasola Farm to an Agribusiness Industrial Estate and the construction of the Oyo-Iseyin Road, his government has ensured that the Oyo zone is not behind in the progress of his administration.

The Governor who celebrated his birthday on Monday 25th of December in Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub said “Oyo Zone hosted my birthday and I can tell you that the Fasola air is good and Oyo has become another home for me.

“From Fasola, we drove 10 minutes to get into Oyo, with a world-class hotel just down the road here, this radio station that can breed our culture and Fasola, an agribusiness estate, you can see that Oyo State is moving forward and Oyo town is also moving forward.

Earlier in his address, the CEO of Dynasty FM Engr. Biodun Ajisafe said the radio station is a dream come through, that he fulfilled his late father, Alhaji Moshood Ajisafe’s dreams and it was a victory for the Oyo people. Ajisafe also thanked Governor Makinde for his generosity.

Furthermore, Bishopp Ayo Ladigbolu in his goodwill address, applauded Makinde for developing Oyo town since he assumed office in 2019, and charged him to do more for Oyo people.

Chairperson of Dynasty Radio, Mrs Adenike Abimbola, appreciated the governor for honouring the Ajisafe family and thanked everyone present for identifying with them.

The personalities at the event are, Baba Ajibola Afonja, Sen. Monsura Sumonu, Sen. Yunus Akintude, Chief of Staff to the Oyo-S governor, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Commissioners, the Oyo Mesi’s, Oyo three State Honourable, BCOS Chirpason Mrs Dotun Olaitan and other notable personality.
