Amusement places to visit in city of Calabar

It’s a weekend and time to refresh your brain and offload the previous week’s stress from your memory. In preparation for the new week’s activities, you need to visit amusement places for your refreshment as body needs to stay healthy. idanNews presents you with the aesthetic places you can visit in the City of Calabar.

Kwa Falls

Nigeria may not have the famous Victoria Falls in Zambia or Zimbabwe but Kwa Falls is set to flood your emotions with beautiful scenery of nature. Surrounded by green vegetation there is no perfect look to behold other than the pristine water gushing out of hard burnt brown rocks.  The Kwa Falls shares the same boundary with the national park at Oban Road Aningeje Town, Oban Division.

Cross River National Park

The cross river national park is one of the greatest efforts in the state to conserve nature and animals. The park is home to many animals such as baboons, leopards, red foxes, gorilla elephants and monkeys.  It is named cross river national as the park is a centre for conserving rainforest.  The cross river national park spans from Kanyan to the foot of Obudu.  The park is in two divisions; Okwangwo and Oban divisions situated in the Boki local government area of the state.

Agbokim Waterfalls

The Agbokim waterfalls aka seven faces is a total fall package as the fall is made up of seven streams of water sources plunging down the high cliff into the tropical rain-forest. I say a complete package because the seven streams represent the seven days in the week.  The falls are at their best during the rainy season between April to September in Nigeria.  Agbokim is on the outskirts of the state; it is near Cameroon. So be careful not to be flooded away as you may find yourself in another country.

Tinapa Resort

This is a resort where one can mix business and pleasure! The resort is for two combos; leisure and business.  It was built as an integrated business and leisure resort; the first of its kind in Nigeria.  As part of its business core, the resort has pockets of malls and shops for letting business owners. The resort hosts trade fairs.  For leisure, the resort has exotic restaurants, pools and hotels. There are also carousel rides for kids and Water Park for everyone.  There is also the presence of the Nollywood studio and fisherman’s wharf. Looking for a Disneyland in Nigeria, book your next ticket to Tinapa Resort!

Twins Island Creek Town

The Twins’ Island Creek Town is the secret haven Mary Slessor hid the historical twins from being Kille.  To get there, you must undergo a boat ride on the river.

Twins Island Creek Town is a dignified storey building for the royalties in the 19th century.  King Eyo Honesty 11 dwelled in the building first, when it was delivered from Britain to the town. Now it is occupied by the descendants of royalties. Likewise, the descendants of the twins are now custodians of some of the relics such as fishing nets, animals in captivity and modern living. They take you on a tour to explore Twins Town.
