Rtd. Maj. Gen. Alabi Isama, a Veteran of the Nigerian Civil War has advised on the need to include town planners when considering the security of towns, cities and the nation as a whole.
Isama advised on Tuesday in Ilorin, during his opening remarks at the Launching of a book, birthday celebration and retirement of Alhaji Alabi Kazeem-Ebo, former Permanent Sof secretary Kwara Ministry of Works.
Isama elaborated on the sojourn of Kazeem-Ebo as a town planner, adding that in the planning and design of roads and buildings, there is a need to construct helipads for the landing helicopters.
He explained that such a design can help security personnel in their operation in fighting insecurity.
“Town planners must begin to see the future. Places where helicopters can land can be created, so that it can help in effective landing of helicopters to help fight insecurity,” he said.
Similarly, Isama observed that the celebrant is known for pursuing education and that Nigerians must ensure their children get an education.
According to him, many individuals from humble beginnings were empowered into prominent families of repute in Ilorin and across Nigeria through education.
Speaking on Nigerian unity, Isama saluted Gen. Gowon, a former Head of State of Nigeria, whom he said was the initiator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
He asserted that the programme is largely a success story geared towards unifying the country and in nation-building and development.
In his book review, Dr Al-hassan Yahaya, a Lecturer at the Kwara College of Education, Ilorin described the book as an Authour biography which glorified motherhood and upholding family ties.
He stated that the book also chronicled the sojourn of the author’s birth, quest for education and life history.
Yahaya added that the book emphasized reaching out to help other people, adding that the author showed how important it is to touch the lives of many for the better.
In his reaction, Alhaji Alabi Kazeem-Ebo, the Authour declared his love and admiration for his mother, whom he said was the source of inspiration.
He said the book chronicles his attitude towards family, education, politics and life in general.
The author emphasizes motherhood and their importance in child formation in Nigeria while advising people to keep family ties and be dedicated towards service to humanity.
