A member of one of the leading parties in Bayelsa State, Mr. George Sibo has been killed at the collation centre in Twon-Brass, Brass local government area of Bayelsa state, Daily Trust reports.
Sibo popularly known as “Kobo-Kobo” was an aide to the Brass Local Government Chairman, Hanson Alabo-Karika.
According to report, he was attacked when thugs invaded the collation centre.
The deceased was an indigene of Twon-Brass and was married with children.
Eyewitnesses who narrated how the incident happened said the deceased was murdered at the Collation Centre when results for some wards in the constituency were being submitted.
The lawmaker representing Brass Constituency l, Dr. Daniel Charles, has reacted over the incident.
He expressed sadness over the “gruesome murder of a vibrant and hardworking young man by desperate power seekers”.
Charles urged security agents to immediately arrest and prosecute perpetrators of the dastardly act.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for Police in Bayelsa state, CSP Asinim Butswat, said he was awaiting details from the Police Area Commander of Brass.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier raised the alarm that its officials were held hostage in Brass.
