Nigerian Shippers Council increases cargo charges by 125%

The Nigerian Shippers Council has increased Break bulk cargo charges by 125 per cent.

NSC disclosed that this was part of the resolutions made on Tuesday in a meeting between terminal operators, shipping companies, freight forwarders and other relevant stakeholders.

The council said the charge adjustment reflects the changing dynamics within the industry.

โ€œBreak bulk cargo charges have been increased from 125% to 250 per cent. This adjustment reflects the changing dynamics of the industry and ensures fair compensation for services provided.

โ€œAll complaints regarding inefficiencies by the terminal operators will be addressed immediately. This commitment aims to improve overall operations and enhance customer satisfactionโ€, the resolution partly reads.

The development comes despite shippersโ€™ groaning on exorbitant cargo charges in Nigeriaโ€™s ports.
