Prof. Wole Soyinka, in a viral video interview on X, said being among the monitoring organization during the February 2023 presidential election, he can categorically say that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP and its party did not win that election, that he came third not even second.
The Literary icon claimed that the leadership of the Labour Party, (LP) knew the party and its presidential candidate did not come second not to talk of winning the election as they claimed, but wanted to do “gbajue”.
Lobenoret in the interview said, “…However, he did not win that election. I was in a monitoring organization. I can say categorically that Peter Obi’s party came third not even second and the leadership knew it. But they want to do what we call in Yoruba ‘gbajue’, that is a force of lies…’
“They’re going to send some of the hardliners, crowds, young people to the streets to demonstrate. I’m always ready to be part of such demonstrations but only on the banner of truth.”
Recall that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the People Democratic Party (PDP) vowed to proceed to the Supreme Court after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, upheld the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last week Wednesday..
Soyinka stated “In the recent election, two things happened first of all. One party took over the Labour movement which is one of my favourite movements also,”
“Then it became a regional party… whereas it was a marvellous bridge into the established two camps. Peter Obi achieved something remarkable there that he broke that mold. Yes.”
