Senator Simon Mwadkon Emerges as Senate Minority Leader
In a surprising turn of events, Senator Simon Mwadkon emerged as the Senate minority leader on Tuesday, July 4. Despite the spirited attempts to outsmart him by his political rival, Nyesom Wike, former Rivers state governor, Mwadkon defeated Senator Aminu Tambuwal in the battle for the position. The outcome of this contest marked a loss for both Wike and Tambuwal in their supremacy battle for the leadership of the minority caucus of the 10th Senate, as reported by Daily Trust.
Wike, who had engaged in a series of meetings with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, had pushed for a particular senator to assume the minority leadership role. On the other hand, Tambuwal had made his interest in the minority leadership position known. However, their efforts were overshadowed by Mwadkon’s successful bid for the Senate minority leader position, as stated in a report by Channels TV.
