At least one person has been confirmed dead and over 100 hours were destroyed as a result of a heavy Windstorm in Agbashi Community of Doma Local Government Council of Nasarawa State.
The incident happened in the evening hours of Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Confirming the ugly development to Newsmen on Wednesday, the Vice Chairman of the Council, John Bako-Ari, said over one hundred residential houses were destroyed, including the Agbashi Central mosque, part of Pilot Primary School Agbashi and several other public infrastructure.
According to him “the windstorm indeed destroyed over 100 houses including, mosque and Primary school, the incident happened yesterday in the evening,” he stated.
Reacting to the incident, Acting Chairman, of the Agbashi Development Association (ADA), Anthony Oshinyeka who described the incident as unfortunate, said the Bassa settlement in Iponu, on the outskirts of Agbashi was badly affected as one man also lost his life and seven others sustained various degree of injuries.
Oshinyeka, who called on the Government to come to the aid of the people to cushion the effect of their losses, solicited for the immediate release of relief materials to the people.
This, according to him, will go a long way to alleviate the sufferings of the victims of the Windstorm in the Community.
