Tinubu sacks FAAN, NAMA, other MDs, announces replacements

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the suspension, removal, and replacement of several Chief Executive Officers within the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The affected individuals include Mr Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, who was removed from the position of Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Mrs Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku has been appointed as the new substantive Managing Director of FAAN.

Similarly, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, has been replaced by Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk is the new substantive Managing Director.

Engr Akinola Olateru, the Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has been removed, and Mr Alex Badeh Jr. takes over as the new substantive Director-General.

Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu replaces Prof. Charles Anosike as the substantive Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).

Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo, the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), has been replaced by Mr Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector, pending the appointment of a substantive Rector.

The Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu has been suspended to allow the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate his activities. Capt. Chris Najomo will serve as the Acting Director-General.

Tinubu has also given the green light for the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development to commence a diligent process to recruit a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers for the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU).

The President emphasizes the importance of the new leadership prioritizing the safety, convenience, and comfort of the Nigerian people in all administrative activities within the aviation sector. To address the sector’s challenges and align with his Renewed Hope Agenda, Tinubu urges the immediate establishment of world-class policy design, implementation, and regulatory frameworks.

All directives take immediate effect.
