Supreme Court reserves judgement on Nasarawa Governorship dispute

The Supreme Court of Nigeria, on Tuesday, reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) David Ombugadu against the election of the incumbent Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress.

The People’s Democratic Party Flag bearer in the last Year’s March 18, General Election, David Ombugadu filed an Appeal at the Supreme Court, following the verdict of the Appeal Court which set aside the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal that affirmed him as the winner of the Governorship election in the State.

Ombugadu, a former Member of the House Representatives, argued that the Appellate Court erred in its ruling by reversing the decision of the State Election Petition Tribunal which earlier declared him as the winner of that election.

However, Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun led a five-member Panel of Justices of the Supreme Court on Tuesday to reserve judgment on the appeal after all parties in the case had adopted their briefs of argument.

The Apex Court said the date for the Judgement on the Suit will be Communicated to both Parties in due time.
