The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has started the consolidation of the party for the future tasks of facing all the democratic processes in the state.
To this extent, the state executive officers of the party, led by its chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, began its statewide sensitisation programme, yesterday, from Ila-Orangun, the home town of Chief Bisi Akande, the first interim national chairman of the party.
The venue of the APC sensitisation programme in Ila-Orangun, which is the hall in the country home of Chief Akande, the former Osun State governor, was filled beyond capacity as the event was turned into a carnival of sorts.
Addressing the elated party members and their supporters, Sooko Lawal who announced the bringing of a good tiding for the stakeholders of the party from Chief Akande and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the state leader of the party who was the immediate-past governor of the state, enjoined the stakeholders of the party in Ila Local Government Council Area of the state to imbibe unity in the overall interest of the fortune of the party in the future elections.
Lawal reminded the party stakeholders that they needed to consign their past ugly experiences to the dustbin of history and work as a team in the overall interest of the party and the state.
He explained further that it was in the recognition of the past and present contributions of Chief Akande to genuine democratic ideals of the APC nationwide that informed the choice of the state executive officers of the party to begin the sensitisation programme from his home town in Ila-Orangun.
Lawal stated further that the objective and aim of the leadership of the party is to restore the lost glory of the party which could only be realized through the cooperation of all and sundry in the party.
He enjoined the leaders and members of the party to be wary of those who have been going around deceiving them into falling into what brought the party into its present plight through the last series of elections in the state.
In the words of Lawal: “I am bringing a good tiding to you all from our father, Chief Bisi Akande and the leader of the party, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, who has tasked us to continue to work in unison in the overall interest of the party.
“Our mission is to work assiduously as a party and restore the lost glory of the party which was fraudulently taken away from it through the last series of elections in the state.
“We thank the Almighty God who has made our job easy through the acts of misgovernance and extremely poor public engagements of the current actors in the administration of the state.
“It is necessary for us to continue to collectively work as a team to realize our political aspirations and engage in political evangelism designed to win more souls and the disenchanted members with genuine intentions back into the party”, the state party chairman stated.
The sensitisation train of the APC was later moved to Otan-Aiyegbaju, the headquarters of Boluwaduro Local Government Council Area of the state where the leaders and supporters of the party also welcomed the state contingent with fanfare.
The state chairman of the APC replicated his Ila-Orangun message to the members and leaders of the party who thronged the venue from the various towns, villages and communities constituting the local government.
Lawal however, disclosed that he wasn’t encouraged by the current situation of the APC in Boluwaduro Local Government, tasking the leaders and other stakeholders of the party to engage in a ferocious task of improving the fortune of the party in the local government council area.
Leading the state executive officers of the party from the state were Sooko Lawal, the state party’s Secretary, Alhaji Alao Olabisi Kamoru and the State Treasurer, Hon Femi Kujembola.
