Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is the most expensive player in Africa with €120m valuation, which also places him joint-fifth among the Top 10 most expensive players in the world, tied alongside Bukayo Saka, with only Vinicius Jr (€150m), Jude Bellingham (€150m), Kylian Mbappe (€180m) and Erling Haaland (€180m) above him.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is worth a quarter of the Super Eagles’ entire squad with his transfer value eclipsing that of every other member of the national team, according to PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Super Eagles are ranked the financially most valuable squad in Africa and the 10th in the world.
The three-time African champions are valued at €451.60m with Osimhen contributing 26 per cent of the total Eagles squad as he is worth €120m, according to football news, transfer rumours and statistics medium, Transfermarkt.
England’s Three Lions and the French national team are the only teams worth over €1bn.
Ahead of the Eagles in the top 10 most valuable national teams in the world are England (€1.37bn), France (€1.05bn), Portugal (€990m), Brazil (€969m), Spain (€811m), Argentina (€797.50m), Germany (€789.50m), Italy (€636.50bn) and The Netherlands (€519m).
Nigeria’s star-studded team, made up mostly of players plying their trade in the major European leagues, helped facilitate the ranking and the Eagles’ total valuation.
Morocco remains second in Africa with €326.05m and is followed by Ivory Coast, who are valued at €315.08m, in third place. Senegal at €257m and Algeria worth €207m complete the top five of the continent’s most valuable sides.
Most expensive Eagles
Nigeria’s current valuation is heavily impacted by star players like Napoli’s Osimhen, who is estimated to be worth €120m. He is worth three times the value of the second-most expensive Eagles player, Bayer Leverkusen sensation Victor Boniface, who is worth €40m.
Other high-value players are Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, whose values are estimated at €30m each, making them the joint-third most expensive Eagles.
Fulham’s Alex Iwobi is worth €28m, while Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi’s value stands at €25m.
Forwards Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan and Nice’s Terem Moffi are also worth €25m alongside Ndidi and the three can share the honour of being the fifth-most expensive Eagles players.
Gent’s Gift Orban is valued at €20m, while €18m Kelechi Iheanacho completes the list of Top 10 most valuable Nigerian players.
Osimhen is also the most expensive player in Africa thanks to his €120m valuation, which also places him joint-fifth among the Top 10 most expensive players in the world, tied alongside Bukayo Saka, with only Vinicius Jr (€150m), Jude Bellingham (€150m), Kylian Mbappe (€180m) and Erling Haaland (€180m) above him.
Osimhen is the only African player currently valued at €100m or above, far ahead of the continent’s second-most expensive players, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, and Moroccos’s Achraf Hakimi, who are both valued at €65m.
Boniface, Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy, Burkina Faso defender Edmond Tapsoba, Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus and Cameroon internationals Andre Onana and Frank Anguissa are the third most expensive players all with a transfer value of €40m.
Nigeria is the only country with two players in the Top 10 most expensive players in Africa list, while the Eagles and the Ivory Coast are the only ones to produce up to three players in the Top 20.
