Ogun State Police Command Eleweran Abeokuta, on Tuesday paraded suspected armed robbers, confession to their crimes and, cultists.
The arrested armed robbers confession to the crime of stealing of cars and other items. The suspects include Akeem Olabijo (36), Ogunseye Abisodun (26) and Mukaila Ibrahim (25) are all claimed to be an artisans but the Nigerian situation made them embrace armed robbery when introduced to it by their boss.
Ogunseye, who said he is a barber, explained that he has a wife and children to cater for, but as the barbering profession wasnโt enough to take care of the family needs, he went on robbery expedition twice and was given 150,000 and 100, 000 respectively on the two occasions, only to be arrested on the third adventure of robbery.
Corroborating Ogunseyeโs confirmation, Akeem Olabijo, a tiler, said that they went to rob at Papalanto, Ewekoro Local Government in Ogun, entered various houses, collected their belongings including phones, and above all, stole vehicle at each of the robbery spree, adding that it all happened in August when they started the nefarious act, but they were arrested recently when they went to collect their proceed from the last operation at Sango.
He futher said tiling was not paying his bills as the Nigerian economy is terribly harsh now, hence, his readiness to rob when introduced to the criminal act.
Mukaila Ibrahimโs on his part pointed to the two Hausa men whom they sold the stolen vehicles to, saying they were aware the vehicle was stolen, as the last one sold to them, a Corolla car was given oun so cheaply for 800,000 naira, a claim Muhammad Sanni who both the vehicle attested to, while Ali Amodu, the second buyer denied knowing the vehicle was stolen as he bidded it for 2 million and had paid 1 million advance payment.
Items recovered from the suspects according to the police are :Two cutlasses, a stick and a rope.
Furthermore, one Adeleke Tayo and Adepoju Ola were said to be real owners of the stolen vehicles which areToyota Corolla and Pontiac Vibe respectively.
Case however is under investigation as said by the police.
