Gov Otu commends Lafarge for constructing new evacuation road in Cross River

The Cross River State Governor, Senator, Prince Bassey Edet Otu has commended the existence of Lafarge Africa Plc, the Cement Manufacturing giant in Cross River State for contributing to the growth and development of the state.

This assertion was made in Mfamosing, the landlord community to the Lafarge Cement Production Plants during the commissioning ceremony of a new evacuation commenced commencing from Mfamosing extending through Abiati and Etamkpini to terminate at the Odukpani Local Government junction.

He expressed gratitude to the company and assured the Management of Lafarge Cement that the road users which includes the company’s customers and truck drivers would be safe while plying the road as the security agencies would extend their coverage to the area mostly under his administration.

Governor Otu explained that the idea of an evaluation corridor road of taking truck traffic completely out from the city straight to the Highway to other parts of the country is highly commendable and should emulate other co-operate bodies.

Speaking earlier the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Africa Plc, Alade Akinyemi traced the history of the new 20 Km road to 2010 but it was later suspended due to certain inadequacies in geotechnical studies and design then.

He also explained that the new road would improve the safety of the area as well as enhance productivity and serve as the driver for the economic growth of the area.

Also Speaking is the leaders who were represented by the Paramount ruler of Odukpani Local Government Area, HRM Etiyin Otu Asuquo Otu Mesembe VI express gratitude to both the governor and the company for making it possible for the community to be part of the development agenda of the state.
