On Friday, July 21, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought charges against former Aviation Minister, Sen. Stella Oduah, and several others for their alleged involvement in a N5 billion fraud case.
Among those arraigned alongside the former lawmaker, who previously represented Anambra North Senatorial District at the 9th National Assembly, were Gloria Odita, Nwosu Emmanuel Nnamdi, Chukwuma Irene Chinyere, Global Offshore Marine Ltd, Tip Top Global Resources Ltd, Crystal Television Ltd, and Sobora International Ltd.
Pleading not guilty to the charges, Oduah and the other eight defendants appeared before Justice Inyang Ekwo at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Following their plea, Justice Ekwo ordered that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) take over the case, directing the EFCC to transfer the case file to the AGF within two weeks.
While upholding the existing administrative bail conditions granted by the EFCC, Justice Ekwo further instructed that the terms and conditions of bail should be made available to the AGF.
The trial has been adjourned until October 17, 2023, providing ample time for the proceedings to take place and for the allegations of fraud to be thoroughly examined and addressed.
