The Lawmaker representing Ikere Constituency 2 in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Tunde Idowu has called for intervention from the State Government to rescue his community from incessant attacks by helders and cattle rustlers.
Hon. Tunde Idowu made the call over the weekend during a chat with the Journalists over the ugly incident that occurred in Ikere Ekiti between the Herders, Cattle Rustlers, and the Residents.
The Lawmaker condemned the incessant attacks on their farmlands in Ikere Ekiti and called on His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and other stakeholders to rise to the situation and rescue Ithe Kere Ekiti Community from the hands of these unscrupulous men.
Hon. Idowu “said I was deeply touched and emotionally disorganized by the ugly activities of the herders and Cattle Rustlers in my Constituency, it has been persistent and now become unbearable for us in the last two weeks, the Fulani herders have carried out a series of terrible destruction on our farmlands, Banana, Casava, Yam plantations, and Cocoa farms were burnt,” he said
Meanwhile, Hon. Idowu commended the unwavering efforts of the Ekiti State Government and the swift action of the two Local Government Chairmen in Ikere Local Government to checkmate the menace of the Herders, and Cattle Rustlers in the area.
He enjoined all other relevant Security agents to redouble their efforts and charged the residents to be law-abiding as the Government was on top of the situation.
