Wife of the traditional ruler of Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Iyom Ezinne Patricia Onyido has called on Ogidi women and wives of men occupying influential positions to be of good inspiration to their husbands.
Iyom Onyido who spoke to our correspondent yesterday during the Ofala Festival of her husband, Igwe Alex Onyido said that men who have made positive contributions to society were one way or another influenced by the advice of their wives.
She revealed that men in positions of authority who have failed the masses must have been influenced by their wives, adding that husbands often relay deliberations of important cabinet meetings about society to their wives for advice.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ogidi, Igwe Pharm. Alex Onyido who used the occasion of this year’s Ofala Festival to confer titles to some deserving members of the society urged youths and other indigenes of the community to engage in meaningful ventures.
The traditional ruler and widely acknowledged philanthropist who is reputed for payment of monthly stipends to indigenous octogenarians and above, however, pleaded with well-meaning indigenes of the area, State and Federal Government to assist in developing the community.
Prof. Ada Sam-Omenyi, President, of Ogidi Women Home and Abroad in an interview commended the monarch on his Ofala and peaceful disposition in the community.
She said that the monarch has been able to unite the people of the community through his positive actions since he ascended the throne.
Vice-President of the group, Lady Stella Maduka, Secretary-General and Financial Secretary, Philomena Okonkwo and Maryrose Okeke-Ozude pleaded for rehabilitation and construction of Umuoji/Oye-Ogidi/Afor -Igwe Road.
They applauded Igwe Onyido for aiding the admission of Ogidi indigenes into various universities in the country.
Friends of the community, Chief Daniel Dike and Chief Ikechukwu Udokwu wished the monarch well as he pursues the task of uniting the people and as custodian of the town’s culture and tradition.
