The Ekiti government and all concerned stakeholders swung to action to tackle what is considered a national disgrace to the state amongst its counterparts in the ongoing National Youth Games Festival.
In a new picture circulating on social media, the team Ekiti is seen in complete best-outspoken sports kits following the new development.
This development makes Nigeria commend the efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for displaying a strong commitment to youth sports development, by approving 20 million to support the team Ekiti in the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
The pictures show the commitment of the Ekiti government and concerned stakeholders in taking action to address the issue of poor representation at the National Youth Games Festival.

Ekiti Assembly address the misrepresentation

It should also be noted that the Ekiti House of Assembly on Tuesday commenced a thorough investigation on shabby outfits worn by Ekiti state athletes at the sports festival.
IdanNews gathered that The sitting of the House Committee on Youth and Sport, headed by Hon. Idowu Odebunmi, was held on Tuesday 26th September 2023 at the Assembly Room, Parliamentary and had in attendance General Manager, Ekiti Sports Council, Mr Kunle Adeyemi, and the representatives of the state Accountant General.
The General Manager apologized for the embarrassment caused to the state
The investigation was initiated for accountability, transparency and adherence to standards in representing Ekiti State.
The General Manager, after answering questions put to him by the members of the Committee, apologized for the embarrassment caused to the state at the opening ceremony of the Sports Festival in Asaba and appealed that the Council would continue to do its best to move sports forward in Ekiti.
The Spoit Council boss appreciated the government of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for the support the council is receiving from the government all the time; he stated that “the money required for the Sports Festival was promptly approved by the Governor and the payment was made by the Accountant General less than 24hrs after submitting the approval.”
The Committee Chairman, Hon. Odebunmi expressed the House’s dissatisfaction with the negligence of the sports council officials resulting in the misrepresentation of the state.
Furthermore, The combined efforts of the Ekiti governor, stakeholders, and the athletes themselves will play a crucial role in improving representation and performance at the National Youth Games Festival.
